After Baker resigned, NASBA's Nominating Committee reconvened to amend its previously approved slate of officers to provide continuity in NASBA's volunteer leadership. The NASBA Nominating Committee approved Katrina Salazar, as chair nominee and J. Andy Bonner, Jr., as vice chair nominee. Salazar was previously named the committee's vice chair nominee and now becomes its chair nominee. Under NASBA's bylaws, vacancies in the leadership slate are filled through action by the Nominating Committee before consideration by the member boards at the Annual Business Meeting.

Baker owns his own CPA firm in Austin, Texas. NASBA said in an email Monday that its board of directors and staff are deeply grateful for his leadership and many contributions to the organization. "We extend our heartfelt support to him and his family and wish him strength and a full recovery," said NASBA.

"Coalter has been a thoughtful and dedicated leader, and we are grateful for his service to NASBA," said NASBA president and CEO Daniel Dustin, in a statement. "While we are sorry to see him step away from this role, we fully support his decision and wish him the very best. Katrina and Andy have each devoted years of service to NASBA and the accounting profession. Their experience, collaborative leadership and commitment to NASBA's member boards make them exceptionally well prepared for these important roles."

Salazar has volunteered with NASBA for over a decade and held various leadership roles. She's currently director-at-large and chair of NASBA's Legislative Support Committee and previously served as secretary and Pacific regional director on the NASBA board of directors. She has also chaired several NASBA committees supporting legislative, regulatory and professional initiatives.

Outside of NASBA, Salazar served on the California Board of Accountancy from 2012 to 2024, holding leadership positions including secretary, treasurer, vice president and board president. She also served six years on the American Institute of CPAs' Board of Examiners, including two years as chair, and previously chaired the AICPA State Board Committee. Professionally, she serves as chief financial officer of the California Correctional Peace Officers Association and brings more than two decades of financial leadership, governance and regulatory experience to NASBA.

Bonner currently serves as treasurer and chair of NASBA's Administration and Finance Committee. He first joined the NASBA board as Southeast regional director (2018–2021) and is currently director-at-large. He has chaired multiple committees and advanced NASBA's financial stewardship and legislative priorities. A CPA and longtime financial executive, he serves as CFO of Homesteader. He also serves on the Tennessee State Board of Accountancy, where he previously served as chair, and has held numerous leadership positions with the Tennessee Society of CPAs and the AICPA.

The updated leadership slate will be presented for consideration by NASBA's member boards during an annual business meeting in October.
