New York (Dec. 12, 2002) -- As part of its anti-fraud campaign, the American Institute of CPAs has teamed up with the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners to develop a one-hour corporate fraud prevention training program. The CD-ROM, How Fraud Hurts You and Your Organization, can be downloaded for free from www.aicpa.org/antifraud , or can be ordered (for a shipping and handling charge) from the AICPA at (888) 777-7077 (specify Product No. 056513HS) or from the ACFE at www.CFEnet.com .

The CD includes video clips from interviews with three individuals convicted of fraud who explain how they fell into the trap of thinking that embezzling money from their organization, or "cooking the books," would solve their problems. The CD also includes a brief course on fraud theory, including the three elements of the "Fraud Triangle" that must be present for fraud to occur.

The AICPA is also developing a fraud summit and is working with the ACFE and the University of Texas to develop an Institute of Fraud Studies.
