AICPA launches new CPA Exam scholarship

The American Institute of CPAs Foundation has launched a scholarship to help CPA Exam candidates cover the cost of their exam fees and/or prep courses.

The CPA Exam Scholarship will offer up to $1,500 to a minimum of 50 AICPA Student Affiliate members or U.S. AICPA CPA Exam Candidate Affiliate members to reimburse the fees associated with the exam and prep courses.

“One of the core missions of the AICPA Foundation is to advance the accounting profession,” said Ernie Almonte, AICPA Foundation president, in a statement. “This scholarship helps us achieve that objective by helping to defray the costs of becoming a licensed CPA.”

The scholarship is available to U.S. citizens or permanent residents who are pursuing CPA licensure and have demonstrated financial needs. Scholarship applicants must be able to provide a copy of a Notice to Schedule for a minimum of one section of the CPA Exam, in addition to a copy of a receipt for payment of exam application fees or proof of purchase of CPA Exam prep courses or materials.

“The CPA Exam is a doorway to all of the opportunities a career in accounting provides,” said Mike Decker, vice president of exams at the AICPA, in a statement. “We are pleased the AICPA Foundation is making this scholarship available to help those in financial need make that career leap.”

Scholarship applications are being accepted through July 31. For more information, head to ThisWaytoCPA's site here.
