AICPA to hold free webinar on diversity and inclusion

The American Institute of CPAs has announced a free webinar, “Inclusion 2.0: Getting from Intent to Impact,” to be held this Thursday, Sept. 26, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. EST.

The webinar will look to provide attendees with information on how to build an inclusive organization and how to implement policies to boost diversity and inclusion. Attendees will be eligible to receive CPE credits for the webinar.

The webinar will feature Khalil Smith, practice lead of diversity and inclusion at the NeuroLeadership Institute, an executive coaching organization focused on promoting change within organizations. Smith will discuss:

  • The differences between diversity and inclusion;
  • The value of being an inclusive organization;
  • How to achieve optimal inclusion; and,
  • The pitfalls of excessive inclusion and how to avoid it.

“The accounting profession is becoming increasingly diverse, and it’s important that firms assign the responsibility for creating an inclusive environment to all employees,” stated Kim Drumgo, director of diversity and inclusion at the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants. “Diversity is who we are, inclusion is what we do with diversity and belonging is how we feel in our environments. When implemented well, the influence of these factors has been proven to increase staff engagement, operational effectiveness and financial growth.”
