App of the Week

Anyone working with mobile documents is looking for more ways to easily print them, and Android device users are increasingly looking to Cloud Print for that singular purpose.

A relatively new app, Google Cloud Print is gaining attention as it lets users send any picture or document directly from their Android device to a Cloud Print-connected printer. Through Android's system-wide Share command -- which is available in most relevant apps – users can select Cloud Print from the list of options that appears.

Using Google Cloud Print, you can make your home and work printers available to you and anyone you choose, from the applications you use every day. Google Cloud Print works on your phone, tablet, Chromebook, PC, and any other web-connected device you want to print from.

A one-time setup is all it takes to connect any printers to the service; even printers that aren't natively cloud-ready can be connected with a couple of extra steps. A quick link and short video offer simple instructions to configure your printers to utilize this app. If you have a Cloud Print-ready printer (Epson, Kodak, etc.) or HP e-Print enabled printer you don't need your PC to be on, but for other printers your PC needs to be on.

The latest version has added support for Microsoft Skydrive; an integrated browser to print specific webpages; printer search functions; support for mail printing from Maildroid and Aquamail; and support for the Box.com service.

The Cloud Print app is currently free in the Google Play app store.
