App of the Week: Calm

The benefits of relaxation are obvious, but the methods for attaining it increasingly nebulous in today’s over-sensory work environments.

The Calm app aims to turn one of those tools of distraction into a vessel of peace and meditation with its featured guided meditation sessions, immersive nature scenes and soothing music tracks and background sounds.

The Calm.com developers are especially touting the latest version of their app ahead of “Calm Day” (or more buzz-friendly #CalmDay) March 26. Meant to raise awareness of work stress and methods for combatting it, the holiday is a fitting time to test out the app’s programs of meditation and focus.

While free to download and use, Calm subscribers have access to the premium meditation features. Calm is available for iOS and Android.
