App of the Week: ClassPass

ClassPass is foremost a membership program, but its companion app speaks to the mobility of its mission. The program was designed to provide numerous fitness opportunities with no commitment and—most importantly for traveling professionals—no geographic boundaries.

There is a monthly fee that grants members access to participating studios in 33 cities, varying in scope from Pilates to spinning. While ClassPass touts schedule flexibility and the democratization of the typically steep and confining prices of single-studio membership, its biggest drawback has been its explosive popularity.

Using the app, members can browse, reserve and manage classes. But, depending on the location and class, those can fill up quickly. Still, it’s a nice option for road warriors to have beyond the hotel gym, as long as they are in a ClassPass city.

Thankfully, ClassPass recently acquired competitor FitMob, which can only mean more cities and classes will soon be added into the company’s intuitive app, available to a burgeoning population of loyal members.

ClassPass is available for iOS.
