Aquila to Depart Amex TBS for Consulting Post

St. Louis (May 23, 2003) -- August Aquila, who served as vice president of mergers and acquisitions for American Express Tax & Business Services, is leaving the financial conglomerate to join The Growth Partnership, a full service consulting firm based here, effective July 4.

In his new role, Aquila will hold the position of director of practice management consulting. He spent nearly 10 years at AmEx TBS, playing a major role in the late 1990s' accounting firm consolidation trend, which later included players like H&R Block and Century Business Services.

It (Amex) was great to be there and we accomplished a lot but I was interested in getting back to work with firms,” Aquila said. “I’ll focus on M&A, succession planning and developing management structures around a balanced scorecoard.”

Prior to joining American Express in 1994, Aquila was a partner with Friedman Eisenstein, Raemer & Schwartz and also served as senior vice president of the Chicago-based Practice Development Institute, now called PDI Global.
