Argy, Wiltse & Robinson Buys Spear Safer

CPA firm Argy, Wiltse & Robinson has acquired Spear Safer CPAs & Advisors, allowing the Virginia-based firm to expand further in South Florida.

AWR already has an office near Fort Lauderdale, but the acquisition of Spear Safer allows the firm to expand into Miami. The transaction was effective Dec. 3. Financial details were not disclosed.

"We see the addition of this new office as a natural geographical expansion of our existing South Florida practice," said AWR president and CEO Paul Argy in a statement. "This will allow us to further penetrate the market and provide significantly more depth of talent to serve clients."

The firm plans to offer audit, litigation support, tax and business advisory services to midsized companies at the Miami office. The office will be managed by Jesus Lago, a partner at AWR, as well as two principals, Peter Schroeder and Larry Lopez.

AWR had revenue of $26.2 million last fiscal year and was ranked No. 97 on Accounting Today's 2007 list of the Top 100 firms.
