Atlanta CPA Firms Combine

CPA firm Habif, Arogeti & Wynne has acquired another Atlanta-based accounting firm, Miller Ray Houser & Stewart, in a multimillion-dollar deal.

The 25 employees of MRH&S will join HA&W and eventually will move offices as well, bringing with them a roster of approximately 2,000 client organizations. "Miller Ray Houser & Stewart is a natural fit for us, from both a business and cultural standpoint," said Dan Simms, managing partner of HA&W, in a statement.

Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed. However, MRH&S generated approximately $5 million this year, while HA&W's revenues were approximately $37 million this year, giving the combined firms a total of approximately $42 million in revenue. HA&W ranked No. 80 on Accounting Today's 2007 list of the Top 100 Firms.

HA&W has a base of about 7,000 clients in different industries. The firm is a member of the Baker Tilly International association and has more than 230 professionals on its staff. It provides accounting, auditing, tax, management consulting, financial planning, technology consulting and financial staffing services.

MRH&S offers audit and tax services, mostly to small and midsized companies, along with services such as valuation, litigation support and forensic accounting.
