Axena Expands into Europe

Corporate governance software and services provider Axena Inc. has expanded into Europe.

The company, which makes Web-based corporate governance software, opened its European headquarters in the United Kingdom and appointed a former KPMG partner as its managing director in Europe.

Axena brought on board Linda Duncan, a partner in KPMG's risk advisory services in London. Prior to working at KPMG, she was a director at Price Waterhouse, where she led a team providing governance, risk management and internal audit services to the not-for-profit sector.

"Our rapid growth in the United States, including several multinational clients, has led us to expand into Europe even sooner than we had anticipated," said Axena chief executive Frank Hailstones.

Founded in 2001, Axena's portfolio of Web-based software includes the SOAx Toolkit, a Sarbanes-Oxley 302 and 404 compliance application, and Axenaware, a collaborative decision-support application for enterprise risk management.
