Baker Tilly launches AI solution

Top 25 firm Baker Tilly announced the launch of a new AI platform made specifically for middle market clients, which will be supported and maintained by Baker Tilly professionals over the long term.

The solution, dubbed Collaborative AI, connects employees to company data and knowledge bases—such as emails, transcripts, and documents— they can then leverage for data-driven insights. The broad idea is to capture institutional knowledge that might otherwise be lost, which Baker Tilly hopes will result in reduced onboarding time and training costs, as well as empower employees to solve problems independently by accelerating processes and reducing time spent searching for information.

"AI has quickly become a must-have in the business environment," said Baker Tilly consulting managing principal Mark Steranka. "But its true value lies in identifying the right use cases and integrating AI thoughtfully into a company's natural workflows. Collaborative AI was created to cut through the noise, deliver value, and help companies move forward with confidence efficiently and securely."

The generative AI solution can be kept off public internet platforms and integrated instead with a private chat environment inside the company's firewall. The data sources the AI draws from can be customized based on workers' needs, authorization level, and natural workflows. The tool itself is program agnostic as it involves industry-standard platforms. The solution is also capable of managing and processing large volumes of data quickly.

While there are many AI solutions on the market to get insights based on a company's own unstructured data, Baker Tilly's offering also includes a service component. Professionals will guide businesses through every step, from discovery and use case identification to integration and ongoing data management. So even if a company isn't entirely sure at first what they'd use AI for, Baker Tilly will help them find use cases for their specific challenges and goals.

"Collaborative AI is more than enablement and services, it's a partnership. Our professionals are industry leaders, with an understanding of the nuances of each client we serve," said Steranka. "With Collaborative AI, we help clients augment their workflows using a powerful solution designed to evolve alongside their growing AI expertise."

The release is reflective of Baker Tilly's recent priorities regarding AI, with the firm having already heavily integrated AI tools into its own workflows. At the time, Allen Smith, Baker Tilly CIO, pointed out in particular how the firm has been embedding the technology into its automation and research solutions.
