Best Launches Simply Accounting Data Backup Service

Pleasanton, Calif. (June 7, 2004) -- Best Software is joining forces with Connected Corp. to offer the Simply Accounting Data Backup service, thereby extending the benefits of online data protection, archiving and recovery to the small office/home office marketplace.

Data back-up specialist Connected Corp., headquartered in Framingham, Mass., employs AES 128-bit encryption before transferring data over the Internet and storing it in geographically separate locations to ensure high protection and ready availability. The company's Connected DataProtection/PC technology is specifically designed to allow small businesses to routinely and transparently capture data from laptop and desktop computers for storage at remote locations.

"Backup technology is vital to any organization's business continuity plan," said Scott Zandbergen, product marketing director for Simply Accounting, which is part of Best's Small Business Division. "We've learned that while small businesses recognize the need for this kind of service, to be accepted it must be very simple -- in fact, transparent -- so business owners can focus on running their business, not on managing the technology."

Simply Accounting Data Backup augments the package's built-in back-up functionality.

There are three levels of service. Basic Backup enables Simply Accounting users to back up files and other critical data up to 200MB, and provides automatic file selection, back-up and retrieval capabilities for $9.95 a month. The Backup Plus plan, at $14.95 a month, provides the same functionality for up to 4GB of data. The Full System Backup plan protects up to 10GB of data for Simply Accounting files, all PC data files, application files and operating system files. With that option, users can also take advantage of automated, data-based, system state rollback and recovery via the Connected Heal functionality, at $19.95 a month.
