Hall CPA acquired Tooth & Coin, an accounting, tax and advisory firm that works exclusively with dental practices, marking its first acquisition as it expands into a new industry.
Tooth & Coin, based in Little Rock, Arkansas, was founded in 2013 by Jonathan VanHorn as DentistMetrics and built specifically for dentists and dental practice owners. It will continue to operate under its own brand as a Hall CPA company, with VanHorn serving as an advisor. The combined firm has over 100 employees across the U.S.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
"Dentists deserve advisors who understand a practice, not generalists learning the business on the job," VanHorn said in a statement. "Hall CPA has spent a decade proving that model works. Joining them gives our clients access to a broader set of expertise and provides our team members with excellent future opportunities for growth."
Hall CPA, based in Raleigh, North Carolina, is a tax and accounting firm focused on servicing real estate investors. The firm is also celebrating its 10th anniversary.
"We built Hall CPA on the idea that accountants do their best work when they go deep in one industry instead of a little bit of everything," Brandon Hall, founder and CEO of Hall CPA, said in a statement. "Tooth & Coin proved that same thesis in dental, independently, and at the same time we were proving it in real estate. Bringing the two firms together lets us build on what each of us has already proven, and provides the foundation for where we take this next."
"The next ten years look like this: more industries, same approach," Hall continued. "We are not trying to be everything to everyone. We are trying to be the obvious choice in every market we enter."
