Best Software Launches Accountants Division

Boston (Oct. 3. 2002) -- Best Software, developer of an array of business software applications that include the popular MAS 90/200 accounting line, has launched an Accountants Division to concentrate its focus on accounting professionals.

The new division, first mentioned in the Sept. 23-Oct.6 edition of Accounting Today, encompasses all of Best's business dealings with the approximately 40,0000 accounting professionals who resell or provide consulting services related to Best's applications for the overall business market and those who use Best's products themselves. The number of accountant users increased significantly this summer upon Best's acquisition of CPASoftware, a specialty developer of accounting firm practice management software and professional tax preparation products.

Best unveiled the new division at a press seminar here and discussed the company's overall strategy for competing in the market of applications for small and medium size businesses. Best chief executive Ron Verni said that Best's relationships with accounting professionals are an important factor in the strategy.

Best officials also noted that the new division would enhance the vendor's accounting industry services at a time when many practitioners need a hand with their own market competition. "The accounting profession is evolving at an incredible pace, with increasing complexities and clients who need and expect more," said chief marketing officer Nina Smith, who is managing the new division.
