BKD Merges in KBA

BKD is expanding its presence in Texas by combining with KBA Group, adding over 100 people to the accounting firm.

Dallas-based KBA’s eight partners and 95 team members are expected to contribute approximately $16 million in annual revenue to the Springfield, Mo.-based firm. BKD ranked tenth on Accounting Today’s 2009 list of the Top 100 Firms, with about $358 million in revenue. The firm has more than 2,000 personnel, including approximately 250 partners, in 32 offices within 12 states.

“We want to continue our strategy of wise growth, and the timing was right for us to have the partners and staff at KBA join us,” said BKD CEO Neal Spencer (pictured) in a statement. “The commitment to excellence and client service of KBA’s partners makes them an excellent addition to BKD.”

KBA provides audit, tax, risk management and transaction advisory services, as well as family-owned business services, to private companies in a variety of industries. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The expansion will allow BKD to meet the needs of the rapidly growing Texas market as it serves clients from its offices in Houston, San Antonio and now Dallas.

“For BKD, this completes the Texas triangle (Houston, Dallas and San Antonio) and will make them a powerful force within the state,” said Allan Koltin, CEO of the Chicago consultancy PDI Global. “I wouldn't be surprised to see them open up in Austin also sometime in the future.”

BKD offers consulting, tax, assurance, accounting outsourcing, information technology, investment advisory and corporate finance services. The firm also provides specialized consulting services for various industries, including technology, health care, financial, manufacturing, distribution, construction, real estate, not-for-profit and government clients.
