Global accounting association BKR International presented its annual scholarship awards earlier this month, honoring students from around the world for their notable achievements.
Scholarship winners are nominated by BKR member firms and approved by the Worldwide Board. BKR awards $3,000 per student to go towards gaining accounting credentials in their country. The program has now awarded approximately $70,000 to 25 students since its inception in 2012.
“We are really proud of our ability to give thousands of dollars in scholarships to aspiring accounting students around the world,” stated Karen Brenneman, BKR Americas Region chair and managing partner at member firm Hall, Kistler & Company. “It demonstrates how BKR International gives back in real ways to the industry.”
This year's scholarship winners are as follows:
BKR Asia/Pacific Winner: Liew Jia Min Jasmine, nominated by RT LLP (Singapore)
BKR Europe/Middle East/Africa Winner: Amanda Couzi, nominated by Abou Nasr & Associates (Beirut, Lebanon & Erbil, Iraq)
BKR Americas Winner: Carly Scholl, nominated by DMLO (Louisville, Kentucky)
