Blackbaud Acquires United Kingdom Software

Charleston, SC (July 30, 2002) -- Seeking to expand its presence in the United Kingdom, nonprofit industry software developer Blackbaud has acquired AppealMaster, a fundraising management software used by nonprofits in that European nation.

"Blackbaud has a long history of service to the U.K. nonprofit community," said Robert J. Sywolski, chief executive of Blackbaud, based here in Charleston, S.C. "The acquisition of AppealMaster further solidifies our leadership in the United Kingdom - home to one of the world's leading charitable communities."

Blackbaud acquired the software and its customer base from New Generation Consultancy of Devon, England, for an undisclosed amount. Prior to the acquisition, Blackbaud had more than 500 United Kingdom nonprofit industry users of its homegrown fundraising product, Raiser’s Edge.

A Blackbaud spokesperson said the deal will have no immediate impact on the company’s North American operations, but noted that the company could opt to add some of AppealMaster’s features to Raiser’s Edge. In a separate matter, Blackbaud, whose systems are used by some 12,000 organizations in 48 countries, announced plans to host its first "European Conference for Nonprofits" in London in October.
