Block Appoints New RSM McGladrey President

H&R Block has named Charles Elliot "C.E." Andrews as the new president of its RSM McGladrey unit.

Andrews will take over the accounting and tax consultancy on June 29. As president, he will lead efforts to enhance the McGladrey brand and share among middle-market firms.

Andrews worked for nearly 30 years at Arthur Andersen in several capacities, including head of worldwide audit and business advisory practice. Most recently, he served as president of housing lender Sallie Mae until September 2008.

“We are pleased that C.E. Andrews is joining RSM McGladrey as its new president,” said H&R Block president and CEO Russ Smyth in a statement. “His extensive industry background and leadership experience, including nearly three decades with a major global accounting firm, make him a great choice for the company as it pursues the tremendous market opportunities that exist and builds on its recent growth.”
