BNA Restructures Product Development

Tax and accounting information publisher BNA has appointed a new chief information officer, established a new product research and development unit headed by a new chief product officer, and appointed six vice presidents.

The BNA board of directors named Carol A. Clark as the company’s executive vice president and chief information officer. Clark, formerly vice president for resource management at BNA, will be responsible for ensuring a strategic and reliable technology infrastructure across the corporation, including BNA’s six subsidiary companies. BNA publishes news and other information in areas such as tax, accounting, legal, business and government.

Audrey Hipkins has been appointed vice president and chief product officer. She will be responsible for the newly created product research and development unit, with the mandate to develop and implement a customer-facing technology strategy, including the ongoing development and enhancement of BNA’s new Web software and the company’s electronic commerce initiatives.

“This restructuring gives BNA the opportunity to implement a unified vision and approach to creating and launching products that integrate BNA’s quality content with the company’s proprietary technology,” said BNA president and COO Gregory C. McCaffery in a statement.

One of the six new vice presidents, Darren P. McKewen, has been appointed vice president and group publisher of tax and accounting. He has guided BNA’s tax and accounting business since his appointment as group publisher in 2005. He also has been charged with coordinating strategy across BNA business units for the development and launch of internationally focused tax products.
