Buffalo CPA Honored by NYSSCPA

Buffalo CPA Jerry Mazurkiewicz has been named the 2014 winner of the Michael H. Urbach CPA Community Builders Award by the New York State Society of CPAs and the New York Council of Nonprofits.

The award recognizes the achievements and contributions of CPAs who serve on the boards of charitable organizations. In addition to working with a number of other charities, Mazurkiewicz has served six years of the board of the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo, and is currently its chair. He has promoted the expansion of the group’s partnerships with public and private entities, which has helped bring in $31 million in extra support for initiatives in Western New York.

“His unwavering commitment to the Buffalo region and inspiring generosity of time, talent and treasure truly distinguishes him as a remarkable person,” said Clotilde Perez-Bode Dedecker, president and CEO of the Community Foundation. She also credited him with assisting in the development and implementation of an ongoing strategic planning process, adopting a cross-functional team approach, expanding the foundation’s offerings to clients, and enabling its partnerships to achieve significant impact.

Mazurkiewicz has been a partner at Dopkins & Co. since 2004, and provides income and estate tax planning services to high-net-worth clients, as well as business and succession planning services to private companies. He spent the first three decades of his career with Big Four firm KPMG. In addition, he previously served as president of the Buffalo chapter of the New York society.

The award will be presented at a luncheon during the New York Council on Nonprofits’ annual business meeting on October 9, at the Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz. To register for the luncheon, contact Melissa Currado at mcurrado@nycon.org or call (800) 515-5012, ext. 100. For more information, visit www.nycon.org.
