The Center for Audit Quality and the American Accounting Association announced on Thursday that they are calling for research proposals for their sixth annual Access to Audit Personnel initiative.
Since its inception in 2012, the initiative looks to join academics and audit practitioners to participate in research projects. Since its inception, the Access to Audit Personnel program has connected grant recipients with more than 2,500 practitioners.
“Today’s evolving business landscape makes academic research more important than ever for improving public company audits,” stated Cindy Fornelli, CAQ executive director. “We are excited to again offer this program to connect academics with qualified, experienced audit practitioners from all levels of the profession to initiate another round of research opportunities.”
“The Access to Audit Personnel program has been an invaluable tool to connect scholars with audit personnel,” said Rick Hatfield, president of the AAA Auditing Section and Fayard Endowed Chair in accounting at the University of Alabama, per a statement. “The program alleviates the first hurdle of quality academic field work by connecting researchers with qualified participants from multiple audit firms.”
Applicant proposals must include theories to be tested in addition to their data collection method. A committee comprised of senior academics and audit partners will then judge submitted proposals based on method, usefulness to academic literature, and how the topic would be relevant to audit practice.
