CAQ's 'Audit in Action’ campaign highlights auditors during COVID-19 pandemic

The Center for Audit Quality has announced the launch of its Audit in Action campaign to highlight the importance of public company auditors during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The campaign looks to recognize auditors through videos, blog posts and other stories in order to "put a face to the auditors who play a significant role in keeping the capital markets functioning." The campaign will initially focus on auditors during the COVID-19 pandemic before highlighting other aspects of auditors' careers, including environmental, social and governance information, fraud deterrence and detection, and the multidisciplinary model of public audit firms. Story topics include:

  • Maintaining audit quality in new remote-work environments;
  • Utilizing new technologies and innovations;
  • Sharing knowledge with audit committees facing new and complex accounting issues; and,
  • Investing resources to support audit communities.

“There is perhaps no better example of auditing as a purpose-driven profession than the way auditors are contributing to market stability during the pandemic,” said Julie Bell Lindsay, executive director of the CAQ, in a statement. “Auditors are doing their part, but public company financial information is most reliable when all financial reporting stakeholders, especially management, are working toward the common goal of building and maintaining trust in markets.”
