Carr, Riggs & Ingram Buys Bumpus Hall

Southern accounting firm Carr, Riggs & Ingram has acquired Bumpus Hall, allowing the firm to expand into the Nashville area.

The acquired firm will be renamed Carr, Riggs & Ingram. It will focus on audit and consulting services as well as expanding its tax services. CRI, based in Enterprise, Ala., has 15 offices in Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Mississippi. The Bumpus Hall acquisition is the firm's first foray into the Tennessee market, and CRI plans to expand there in the future.

CRI ranked No. 36 on Accounting Today's 2007 list of the Top 100 firms and earned $66.1 million in revenue this past year. Bumpus Hall has more than 25 professionals and support staff, and has been serving the Middle Tennessee market for more than 35 years.

Sam Bumpus will become partner-in-charge of the Nashville office with the acquisition. He believes the acquisition will position the firm for stronger growth in the Southeast. "We are confident the acquisition will increase service lines and areas of expertise, providing more value to our clients," he said in a statement.

About 30 employees will be moving over, according to CRI spokesperson Danncey Wood. "Their firm is aligned perfectly with our people, in terms of the management, style and the same thinking," she said. "Nashville has become a really hot market."
