CBIZ Acquires Employee Benefits Firm

CBIZ has acquired EAO Consultants, an employee benefits firm also known as Egan, Amato & O’Connor, expanding the accounting provider’s benefits-consulting expertise in the Northeast.

EAO, based in Manasquan, N.J., was founded in 2004 and focuses exclusively on employee health benefits, retirement programs and executive benefits for clients ranging from small family-owned businesses to large corporations. EAO recorded $2.9 million in revenue during the past 12 months.

"Expanding our capabilities to better serve our clients' needs in the Northeast is a priority for CBIZ,” said CBIZ chairman and CEO Steven L. Gerard in a statement. “EAO has experienced solid growth since its inception and has a client-centric service focus consistent with the CBIZ culture.”

EAO's Jim O'Connor said his firm hopes to expand its suite of services by joining CBIZ while maintaining its “hands-on entrepreneurial culture.”

CBIZ is associated with CPA firm Mayer Hoffman McCann in an alternative practice structure. Together the firms ranked eighth on Accounting Today’s 2009 list of the Top 100 Firms, with $545.78 million in revenue.
