Rick Mills has been named chief operating officer of CBIZ Financial Services. He succeeds Chris Spurio, who was recently named president of CBIZ Financial Services.
Mills, who most recently served as senior managing director of CBIZ MHM LLC in Kansas City, will now provide leadership support for the operations and growth initiatives of all sectors of CBIZ Financial Services. Additionally, he will have responsibility for marketing and business development.
“We are excited to have Rick on our executive leadership team,” Spurio said in a statement. “For more than a decade, he has successfully led one of our largest practice offices and we look forward to having his strong leadership skills on our national team as we grow the organization.”
Mills began his accounting career with the CPA firm Mayer Hoffman McCann PC in 1978. Throughout his career with MHM, Mills held roles including manager, attest practice leader and shareholder. In 1998, MHM spun off its tax and consulting practice to CBIZ, where Mills continued his accounting career. He was appointed as Senior Managing Director of CBIZ MHM LLC of Kansas City in 2005.
Mills earned his Bachelor of Science in accounting from the University of Missouri Columbia. He is a certified public accountant in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Montana and Texas and is a member of the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants, Kansas Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
