CCH Acquires Vertex's 'Property Tax Reference'

CCH, a Wolters Kluwer business and a provider of tax and accounting information, software and services, has acquired the "Property Tax Reference" from Vertex Inc.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The reference manual offers extensive property tax information at the local level covering a wide array of jurisdictions. CCH will begin fulfilling orders and updates in February, and the product will now be called the "CCH Property Tax Reference." Updated monthly, the CD-based guide provides a compilation of property tax facts, dates, filing requirements, administrators, record retention, as well as appeal and protest procedures.

Clients seeking customer service account administration or product support for existing subscriptions can contact CCH Customer Service at (800) 344-3734.

Seperately, CCH announced it will offer an audio conference on tax incentives especially applicable to areas hit hard by hurricanes in 2005.

During the Feb. 10 seminar, "Location-Based Tax Credits," two experts in the field -- Professor Charles Swenson of the University of Southern California, and Blake Christian of Holthouse Carlin & Van Trigt LLP -- will discuss the following tax incentive opportunities:

  • State Enterprise Zones
  • The Gulf Opportunity Zone Act
  • Sales and Use Tax Credits
  • State and Federal Hiring Credits

Walk-throughs will demonstrate how incentives work in three sample states, and participants will have an opportunity to delve deeper into their own concerns in a question-and-answer session.More information on the seminar is available at http://tax.cchgroup.com/audioconferences.
