CCH Launches IRS Representation Certification Program

CCH has introduced a program to help accounting professionals represent collections clients before the Internal Revenue Service.

The CCH IRS Representation Certification Program guides professionals through the IRS collection and appeals process, providing detailed instructions on how to anticipate, prepare and negotiate each step.

The program takes a combined lecture/hands-on workshop approach and provides professionals with 16 on-demand video courses taught by expert Eric Green, LL.M., a partner with the Connecticut law firm Green & Sklarz LLC. His practice focuses on taxpayer representation before the IRS, the Justice Department’s Tax Division, the Connecticut Department of Revenue Services and the Massachusetts Department of Revenue as well as handling probate matters, estate planning for individuals and business owners, and tax planning for closely held businesses.

The course also offers the ability to earn 24 CPE credits. It includes slide decks and detailed case studies analyzing actual situations, explaining which steps were taken and why, with the actual IRS forms, letters, spreadsheets and allowable expense tables filled out and all the details explained.

In addition, the program offers tips and techniques for successful marketing to this niche. A comprehensive practice management module explains every step of the client relationship, including model templates such as engagement and retainer letters. The program also includes course quizzes, a final exam and certification upon completion.

The program's on-demand video courses cover topics such as:

•  Avoid the IRS Maze When Representing Clients: Know How the IRS Works and What to Do When Representing Clients

• Collection Client Success Secrets: What do Practitioners Need to Know about Representing Collections Clients, Including Statute of Limitations Issues

• Tax Liens – Stop Them and Give Clients Breathing Room
