CFP Board Taps Diffendaffer as Executive VP

Denver (Sept. 23, 2002) -- The Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. has appointed CFP Gary Diffendaffer to the newly created post of executive vice president.

Diffendaffer assumes responsibility for the national CFP Certification Examination, CFP certification and renewals, and programs to encourage individuals to earn the CFP certification.

Since 2000, he has been the administrator for the American National Standards Institute's U.S. Technical Advisory Group 222, which develops U.S. positions on international financial planning standards.

Diffendaffer previously served as a senior vice president with the CFP Board, as well as senior director of practitioner standards and candidate recruitment, director of practitioner standards, director of post-certification, and manager of CE program review. From 1996-2001, he worked with volunteer practitioners from across the country to develop the Financial Planning Practice Standards. Prior to joining the CFP Board, Diffendaffer provided personal financial planning services to clients in the Denver area.
