Change Of Auditors

INTERNET COMMERCE ENGAGES TAUBER & BALSER: Internet Commerce Corp., a business-to-business online concern, has dismissed Big Four firm Deloitte and named Tauber & Balser as its successor.

According to a federal filing, the New York-based company said that the change in auditors was in connection with the relocation of the company's headquarters to Atlanta, which had been announced in September.

The company said that Deloitte's audit reports on company financial statements for the last two years didn't contain any adverse opinion or a disclaimer of opinion, nor any qualification or modification as to uncertainty, audit scope or accounting principles.

U.S. WIRELESS DISMISSES D&T: U.S. Wireless Data, a New York-based wireless services provider, has jettisoned Big Four firm Deloitte & Touche, saying that its audit fees were too high.

According to a federal filing, U.S. Wireless, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last year, said that Deloitte's reports on the company's financials for 2003 and 2002 didn't include any adverse or qualified opinions; however, it did include a going concern opinion.

U.S. Wireless subsequently hired the New York firm of Friedman LLP as its new independent accountant.

HAWAIIAN HOLDINGS HIRES E&Y: Hawaiian Holdings Inc., a Honolulu-based holding company whose portfolio includes Hawaiian Airlines, has hired the Big Four firm of Ernst & Young LLP as its independent auditor, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The engagement ends an estrangement between the two companies, as E&Y had resigned as auditor to Hawaiian Holdings following a disagreement with the company over accounting for certain non-passenger-related excise taxes. The disagreement eventually was resolved to the auditor's satisfaction.

Ernst, however, continued as auditor for Hawaiian Airlines.
