STAR BUFFET DISMISSES GRANT: Star Buffet Inc., a Salt Lake City-based operator of such all-you-can-eat concepts as JJ North’s Grand Buffet, North’s Star Buffet and Casa Bonita, jettisoned Grant Thornton as its auditor and hired Mayer Hoffman McCann as its successor.
Star Buffet did not disclose any reason for the auditor change, according to a federal filing.
There were no disagreements between Star Buffet and Grant Thornton on any accounting principles and practices, financial statement disclosure, or auditing scope and procedures, the filing said.
IOMEGA DUMPS E&Y: Iomega Corp. dismissed Big Four firm Ernst & Young as its independent accountant and hired BDO Seidman as its new auditor, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Iomega, a provider of storage products for computers, said that there were no disagreements with Ernst & Young, and added that E&Y would continue as its auditor for the fiscal year ended Dec. 31, 2003.
MSI HIRES J.H. COHN: Media Sciences International, a manufacturer of printing products for workgroup printers, hired large Northeast firm J.H. Cohn as its new auditor, succeeding incumbent Wiss & Co.
Wiss & Co. told MSI that it would no longer provide audit services to SEC companies, according to an 8K filing. Media Sciences said that it didn’t have any disagreements with Wiss & Co.
PWC DECLINES RE-ELECTION AS WILD OATS AUDITOR: Big Four firm PricewaterhouseCoopers declined to stand for re-election as auditor for Wild Oats Markets, a natural foods retailer, according to an 8-K filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The filing did not disclose a reason behind PwC’s declination of re-election.
There were no disagreements between Boulder, Colo.-based Wild Oats Markets and PwC on any accounting principles or practices, financial statement disclosure, or auditing scope and procedure.
