Cherry Bekaert acquires Tarsus

Cherry Bekaert, a Top 25 Firm based in Raleigh, North Carolina, is acquiring Tarsus, an advisory firm based in Washington, D.C., that specializes in outsourced accounting solutions, targeting the technology, government contracting, staffing, private equity and professional services sectors.

Tarsus's geographical footprint ranges across a number of other markets outside D.C., including Kansas City, Los Angeles and Bangalore, India.

Tarsus clients will have access to Cherry Bekaert's expanded suite of solutions spanning the areas of accounting advisory, ERP consulting, finance modernization, outsourcing, recruiting and staffing, risk and cybersecurity, tax and transaction advisory."

Cherry Bekaert plans to leverage Tarsus' abilities to bolster its existing outsourced accounting services practice.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Cherry Bekaert ranked No. 20 among Accounting Today's Top 100 Firms. The firm had $742 million in pro forma 2025 revenue before the Tarsus acquisition, along with 47 offices and 183 partners. Tarsus has 175 employees nationwide and a location in Bengaluru, India. After the acquisition, the combined Cherry Bekaert team now includes more than 3,000 professionals globally.

This is the fourth M&A deal announced by Cherry Bekaert in recent months and the 15th since it received private equity funding from Parthenon Capital in June 2022, when it split into an alternative practice structure with Cherry Bekaert Advisory LLC on the non-attest side and Cherry Bekaert LLP on the attest side. 

Last year, Cherry Bekaert acquired Regional Leader Herbein + Co. in Reading, Pennsylvania; Jameson in Bedford, Massachusetts, and Spicer Jeffries in Denver. In 2024, it acquired DeBlanc, Murphy & Murphy in Waldorf, Maryland, near D.C., as well as Katz Nannis + Solomon in the Boston area, Microsoft reseller ArcherPoint and accounting software and cloud services firm Kerr Consulting. In 2023, it added PKF Mueller, a Regional Leader with offices in Illinois and Florida; and MCM CPAs & Advisors, a Top 75 Firm based in Louisville, Kentucky; Legier & Co., a forensic accounting and litigation consulting firm in New Orleans; and Cordia Partners in the Washington, D.C., area. In 2022, it added Treacy & Co., a firm with offices in Boston and Chicago.
