Cosme Receives GHJ's Community Service Award

Cristal Cosme, an audit senior at Los Angeles-based Green Hasson Janks, has received the firm's 2010 Community Service Award.

The annual award recognizes an employee who has actively volunteered with a  nonprofit group and made an outstanding contribution to the community. Cosme works with School on Wheels, which provides educational opportunities for homeless children from kindergarten through 12th grade. She spends one to two hours a week tutoring Christian, an eight-year-old boy in third grade.

As part of the award, GHJ made a $1,000 contribution to School on Wheels, and Cosme received a $1,000 bonus.

"I think it's great that Green Hasson Janks encourages all employees to give back and that they celebrate and recognize their employees with a Community Service Award," said Blue McDonnell, regional coordinator for School on Wheels. "Our tutors are what make us successful and we really appreciate all that Cristal does for us."

Two other employees were recognized as finalists for the 2010 Community Service Award: audit senior Eliz Hovnanian was recognized for her work with Hovsepian Ministries Inc., and executive assistant D'nez Westmoreland for his work with the Inglewood Blackhawks. Both received a $250 contribution to their respective charities and a $250 bonus.
