CPA2Biz Appoints New VP of Sales

CPA2Biz, the marketing arm of the American Institute of CPAs’ products and services, has hired accounting software veteran and consultant David Pollak as its vice president of sales.

Based in New York, he plans to travel extensively as his main duties will be to help build a national sales force for CPA2Biz.

Prior to joining CPA2Biz, Pollak was president of CPA Sales Solutions in Dexter, Mich., where he consulted directly with organizations selling technology solutions to accounting firms. Previously, Pollak was vice president of sales for Creative Solutions Inc.—later owned by the Thomson Tax & Accounting—where he worked for 17 years leading a team of 125 sales professionals.

“After I left Thomson, I thought I’d retire, but realized it’s not what I wanted to do,” he said. “I have been deeply enamored what at what the cloud can do for firms and when Erik [Asgeirsson, CPA2Biz chief executive] contacted me asking me what my plan for 2011 was I became very excited,” said Pollak. “I couldn’t have scripted it better. We want to be the change specialists [for the industry], and as we start to build out a sales team we will also put out a process that will help people get [CPAs] educated about what the cloud will be and help with their decisions.”

CPA2Biz currently has sales associates in Santa Clara, Calif., and Durham, N.C., which will likely grow throughout the year. Pollak will also play a key role in helping to expand membership in their Trusted Business Advisor Solutions program.

“We had a very impressive short list of candidates from other companies in this space, and Dave was the unanimous selection,” said Asgeirsson. “Dave is a proven sales leader and we need to build a leading sales organization. He understands the market. He knows this category extremely well and knows how firms operate and what it’s going to take to be successful.”
