CPA2Biz, ITA to Co-Locate 2014 Tech Conferences

CPA2Biz, the technology subsidiary of the American Institute of CPAs, and the Information Technology Alliance (ITA), an independent professional association of accounting firms, technology consultants and technology vendors to the profession, today announced that they will be co-locating their respective conferences Dec. 7-10 at the National Gaylord in Washington, D.C.

The two events, the AICPA/CPA2Biz Digital CPA Conference and the ITA Fall Collaborative, will function as overlapping but separate events, offering joint networking opportunities and general sessions.

The CPA2Biz Digital CPA event will run from December 8-10 and the ITA event from Dec. 7-9.

“We’re very excited about this,” said Erik Asgeirsson, president and CEO of CPA2Biz, in a press call announcing the co-location. “ITA is an organization we’ve been involved with over the years, and our activity with them has increased over the years, due to the increased focus on technology changes and the cloud.”

“We’re excited on the ITA side of things,” added ITA president Stan Mork. “There’s some difference in our base, but a lot of similarities, in how we deliver service to clients around this technology. We compared notes, and it was a great opportunity to have two conferences in the same location and build a broader community. It’s a win-win for both of our organizations and both events.”

Asgeirsson and Mork reported a positive response when they floated the idea by the technology and vendor community, as well as the ITA partners though, Asgeirsson explained, the event will be “expanded beyond the partner community.”

The specific overlapping general sessions and tracks will be announced in the future, along with conference themes and keynotes.

“I am thrilled to be doing this with ITA, and some general sessions together,” Asgeirsson said. “It’s gearing up to be a transformative type of event for our communities.”
