New York - The American Institute of CPAs has released a new book to help businesses conduct fraud inquiries.

The Guide to Investigating Business Fraud, from the AICPA's Specialized Publications Group and written by a team from Ernst & Young's fraud investigation and dispute services practice, covers how fraud experts examine and work a fraud case, how they handle preventive anti-fraud programs, and how they make decisions at critical times during the fraud investigation.

The book is available from CPA2Biz at a cost of $79 for AICPA members and $98.75 for non-members.

SURVEY FINDS WORLD RECOVERY STILL FRAGILE

London - A survey of 1,200 finance professionals from 92 countries by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants found that an increasing percentage of ACCA members (34 percent) now believe that global economic conditions are either about to improve or already improving, but the emerging consensus, expressed by 44 percent of respondents, appears to be that current conditions mark the bottom of the downturn and will persist for some time.

The survey also shows that there has been an increase in late payments, as well as supplier and customer bankruptcies. Investment in staff fell at an accelerated rate in the third quarter, while investment in capital projects seems to be weakening further.
