Divorce, CPA Style

New York (May 16, 2002) -- For the first time ever, CPAs and lawyers are coming together at a national conference to focus on the financial aspects of divorce.

The first National Conference on Divorce, sponsored by the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers and the American Institute of CPAs, kicks off on Thursday in Las Vegas.

The conference is geared toward legal and financial professionals and will cover such varied topics as discovery of financial assets, stock option valuation, business valuation and the use of forensic financial testimony at depositions and trials.

"As marital assets have been defined more broadly and become increasingly complex, the conference will be an excellent opportunity for accountants and lawyers to improve their knowledge about both valuing marital assets as well as fairly dividing those assets," said Academy president J. Lindsey Jr.
