Doeren Mayhew Bolsters Practice with Health Care Acquisition

Deepening its health care industry practice, Top 100 Firm, Doeren Mayhew, has acquired the Farmington, Mich.-based dental CPA firm, Davis and Davis.

Effective immediately, the acquired firm will enter into a transition phase operating as Davis + Davis, a Division of Doeren Mayhew. On Oct. 1, 2016 it will take on the Doeren Mayhew name.

Since its founding in 1954 by Marshall Davis, Davis and Davis, has offered a wide range of financial, accounting and consulting services to business owners, primarily dentists. The firm serves clients nationwide with major concentrations in Michigan and North Carolina.

Davis and Davis’ managing principle, Greig Davis and his associates will become Doeren Mayhew employees and move to the firm’s Troy, Mich. headquarters immediately. The firm will continue operations of its satellite office in Raleigh, N.C. to serve regional clients. Greig Davis will manage the firm’s dental practice, as well as provide overall leadership guidance to Doeren Mayhew as a shareholder and board member.

“Deepening our resources and offerings for clients within our industry practice groups is an ongoing goal
of the firm,” said Mark Crawford, Doeren Mayhew chairman and managing shareholder. “The addition of
Greig Davis and his team of professionals allow us to substantially increase our depth of experience, expertise and industry offerings for our health care provider clients.”

With the addition of Davis and Davis’ extensive list of hundreds of dental practice clients, Doeren
Mayhew will be one of the top dental CPA firms in the nation. The practice will operate in conjunction with the firm’s Business Advisory Group focused on meeting the accounting, tax and consulting needs of smaller businesses.

Greig Davis also cites access to additional human capital resources, increasing demands of dental practice clients and the overall growth potential among the reasons for the acquisition. “My father, Marshall Davis, and I are extremely proud of the firm we have built over the past 60-plus years. With the collaboration of Doeren Mayhew, we feel we can continue to grow while improving our ability to help manage our clients’ businesses with the additional skilled resources they have to offer. In addition, it will open up career paths and increase benefits to our staff,” he said.
