Draffin Tucker merges in Baldwin

Draffin Tucker, a firm based in Albany, Georgia, is expanding to South Carolina by adding Baldwin & Associates, a firm in the Charleston suburb of Mount Pleasant.

Draffin Tucker has been offering a variety of accounting services for over 75 years in both Albany and Atlanta, Georgia. Prior to the combination, Draffin Tucker had about $19.5 million in revenue, 16 partners and a total of 95 team members, including partners. Baldwin and Associates had about $4.7 million, three partners and a total of 33 employees, including partners.

The two firms came together, according to Jeff Wright, managing partner of Draffin Tucker, due to "synergies between the firms, expansion of geographies, future opportunities and similar cultures."

Baldwin & Associate leader Bob Baldwin will continue to serve as the senior partner at Draffin Tucker's new Charleston/Mt. Pleasant office. He is joining Draffin Tucker along with partners Alys Anne Dennis and Stephen Moose. "We have decided to join Draffin Tucker because we share the same values of integrity, quality, and personal attention to our clients," Baldwin said in a statement Friday. "True to their tagline 'Let's Think Together,' Draffin Tucker believes in real people working and thinking together to produce the highest level of services to support client and employee success. Baldwin & Associates shares this same philosophy — what a perfect match!"

The two firms had been in talks for about a year prior to the merger, according to Wright. He doesn't see any further mergers on the horizon right now. This is Draffin Tucker's first merger since 1978.
