Ernst & Young Appoints Sustainability Head

Ernst & Young has appointed an executive to focus on developing environmental best practices throughout all of its offices in the Americas.

The firm tapped Leisha John, a 24-year veteran of the organization, to serve as Americas director of environmental sustainability.

John is moving back to the Americas for this position from India, where she was formerly the CEO of Ernst & Young's global shared services center. Earlier in her career, she served as director of strategy and operational excellence for the firm's U.S. Tax Compliance Group.

Over the past six years, more than 500 employees in Ernst & Young's local offices have joined its EcoCare network to increase awareness of ways to be more environmentally friendly. The EcoCare network has promoted initiatives such as recycling, waste reduction, environmentally friendly procurement practices and community activities that promote a better environment.
