FAF Appoints New Advisory Council Chairman

The former chairman and chief executive of CNA Insurance Cos. has been named chairman of the Financial Accounting Standards Advisory Council.

Dennis H. Chookaszian will succeed Richard Swift, whose term concludes at the end of December 2006. Chookaszian’s four-year term will start Jan. 1.

The council advises the Financial Accounting Standards Board on technical issues relating to the board’s agenda, project priorities and other related matters.

Chookaszian, a CPA, retired as chairman and chief executive officer of CNA in 1999. In his 26 years of service to the company he served in a range of other executive capacities, including chairman of the executive committee, president and chief operating officer and chief financial officer.
