FAF looks for a new chair

The board of trustees of the Financial Accounting Foundation, which oversees the Financial Accounting Standards Board and the Governmental Accounting Standards Board, has formally launched a search for its next chair.

Current chair Kathleen Casey will complete her three-year term (and fifth year with the board) at the end of 2022; the next chair will serve from Jan. 1, 2023, to Dec. 31, 2025, and will be eligible for a second three-year term.

The chair represents the FAF, and leads the board of trustees in major decisions around strategy, hiring, oversight and governance. Details of the position are available on the FAF's website.

"The FAF board chair is a staunch advocate for independent standard-setting and demonstrates a deep concern for the public interest as well as an appreciation for the varying interests and perspectives of all FAF stakeholders,” said Lynette Kelly, chair of the Appointments Committee of the board of trustees, in a statement. "The chair ensures effective oversight of the independent standard-setting bodies of the FASB and GASB and provides leadership to the 18-member FAF board of trustees, the FASB chair, the GASB chair, and the FAF executive director. It’s an important opportunity for the right leader."

Interested applicants or those who want to nominate people for the position should send a resume to search firm Spencer Stuart at FAF@spencerstuart.com by April 8, 2022.
