Florham Park, N.J. (May 8, 2003) -- Financial Executives International has honored Austin, Texas, CPA James V. Long with the association's 2003 Distinguished Service Award.

The award honors volunteer leaders who have made long-term contributions to FEI's development at the local or national level. Distinguished Service Award nominees are evaluated across four areas: Holding a series of FEI positions and exciting a positive influence; representing FEIs goals to the financial community in an exemplary way; launching major initiatives that strengthen national and/or chapter activities; demonstrating the qualities of a role model and being held in high esteem by their peers.

Long joined KPMG after teaching at The University of Texas, where his career included finance positions with what is now JP Morgan Chase Bank. He founded and served as chief executive of Services Resource Group, a turnaround management and merger & acquisition company, based in Austin. Long has also been recognized by the Texas State Board of Accountancy; Texas Society of CPAs; American Institute of CPAs Editorial Board; and The University of Texas at Austin, in addition to being nominated for INC Magazine's Entrepreneur Award and KPMG's Technology Awards.
