FinancialForce Aims to Link CRM and Accounting

Cloud-based accounting technology provider FinancialForce.com has released the fifth-generation Winter ’11 version of FinancialForce Accounting, featuring the ability to move between the general ledger function and Salesforce.com’s online customer relationship management software.

FinancialForce’s new sales order application is embedded and initiated from within Salesforce CRM’s opportunity and quote functions, allowing users to create sales orders in a single click, eliminating rekeying or the need to move between multiple applications.

“One thing we found is that if you look at anyone who puts in a CRM system, it’s freestanding, and there’s a divide with the accounting system,” said FinancialForce vice president of product marketing Tom Brennan. “Typically there is a maze of manual systems and spreadsheets in between the two and no natural accounting controls in a CRM system. If you use spreadsheets, you know there are errors in that manual process. This is an automated system, allowing users to go straight from [sales] opportunities to the invoice, and when you create the invoice quicker, you get to cash quicker.”

FinancialForce Accounting Winter ’11 is available from the Salesforce.com AppExchange and can be implemented using a specially designed Quickstart Wizard.

FinancialForce.com delivers three releases every year. The next phase of development will focus on the contract management process.
