NEW JERSEY

The New Jersey Society of CPAs announced that it will award more than $450,000 in scholarships this year, making it the largest professional scholarship program in the state. It will hold its 56th Annual Scholarship Award Ceremony April 21 at Pines Manor in Edison. The society will begin accepting applications for its 2017 scholarship program in the fall.

 

NEW YORK

The Rochester office of Freed Maxick has been named one of the Top Workplaces 2016 by the Democrat & Chronicle and WorkplaceDynamics. Separately, the firm applied “Augmented Reality” for its latest print advertisement in the Buffalo Business First print publication, allowing an enhanced experience for users who have downloaded the Layar app to view, so they can view a video corresponding to the print ad over the ad itself. … CohnReznick LLP, New York, released a report on IPO activity in the first quarter of 2016. There were a mere nine new offerings in Q1, compared to 40 in Q1 2015, and 81 in 2014. The complete CohnReznick Middle Market Equity Capital Report will be available later in April. … Friedman LLP, New York, released a white paper, 2016 Election Grows Near: Business Leaders React to Proposed Tax Changes, which includes the results of a recent survey of business leaders.
