ACL, Vancouver, announced its 15th Annual Impact Award Winners. The winners comprised of 10 companies in various industries. The Impact Awards winners will be honored at the annual customer conference, ACL Connections 2013, taking place April 28–30.

IRAQ

U.S. Accounting Firm News:

CALIFORNIA

Twelve employees of White Nelson Diehl Evans LLP, Irvine, have raised $1,830 for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation which battles cancer that afflicts children and young adults. The employee participants included all levels of staff, from interns to partners.

FLORIDA

The LBA Group, Jacksonville, sponsored Shredder Day on April 15th. The firm offered Jacksonville residents the opportunity to bring their sensitive documents for a secure shredding and disposal.

GEORGIA

M3 Accounting Services, Gainseville, the hotel-specific accounting software provider, has rebranded as M3 Accounting + AnalyticsUHY Advisors Inc., Atlanta, started to offer training classes for the highly regarded Project Management Professional certification. UHY is offering business professionals a chance to enroll at a 25 percent discount, and open enrollment is underway. In addition, CPAs participating in this training are eligible to receive up to 32 hours of CPE credits.  The first set of classes was held in Atlanta from April 15 – April 17. Subsequent training sessions will be held in Michigan and Texas later in the year.  

The exam preparation includes the following topics:

KANSAS

Mayer Hoffman McCann PC, Leawood, has formed an IFRS Solutions Group. The group will assist clients either in the transitions from U.S. GAAP to International Financial Reporting Standards or serve in an advisory role providing guidance on complex IFRS matters. As a part of this effort, MHM is putting close to 25 professionals through the AICPA’s IFRS Certificate Program, of which nearly 20 have completed.

The service is available for clients who are required to be compliant with the PCI Data Security Standard, which is vital for all merchants or service providers who store, process or transmit credit card data, online or offline. … PwC US, New York, conducted a survey which found that as companies continue to transform their businesses are concerned about the growing external market risks that can derail their strategic priorities. PwC US Risk in Review report titled, “Global risk in the transformation age" gives more perspective on the matter.

NORTH CAROLINA

SOUTH CAROLINA 

WebsterRogers LLP, Florence, has launched the WebsterRogers Leadership, Excellence, Achievement and Performance summer leadership program. LEAP is a two-day program designed for college students to realize and expand their leadership potential. The program is open to high-performing college students from select South Carolina universities who are currently majoring in accounting and intend to be CPA-eligible at the completion of their undergraduate or graduate education. The Universities selected for the inaugural class were the University of South Carolina, College of Charleston, Francis Marion University and Coastal Carolina University.  This year’s inaugural LEAP program will take place in WebsterRogers’ Charleston office on May 30th and May 31st.
