ILLINOIS

Grant Thornton LLP, Chicago, ranked highest in the 2004 Audit Firm Performance Study from J.D. Power and Associates, and second overall in a separate study of major tax firms.

KENTUCKY

Martin & Wall PC has joined Alliott Group North America, Louisville, a worldwide network of independent firms. Martin & Wall, which has three partners and offices in Washington and Chicago, has practices in wealth and tax advisory, federal government contracting, and forensic accounting.

VIRGINIA

Piascik & Associates PC, Richmond, has received the 2004 Torch Award for Business Integrity from the Better Business Bureau of Central Virginia. The award recognizes companies with a solid commitment to conducting business in an ethical fashion, and Piascik was specifically cited for, among other things, protecting the identity of its clients and putting their interests before its own.
