Dixon Hughes Goodman sponsors assistance dog
Top 20 firm Dixon Hughes Goodman collaborated with paws4people throughout 2018 by sponsoring the training of a one-year-old Golden Retriever assistance dog, Dewey.
The DHG Foundation and staff members donated over $35,000 in a 12-month period to support Dewey's training. Dewey will now be partnered with a veteran or an individual with physical or emotional disabilities via paws4people's assistance dog placement program.
“We engaged everyone in our firm from the top-down,” stated DHG Foundation president Pat Shuler. “The thing I loved most about our partnership is everybody was keyed into the program, and we didn’t just contribute money, but we engaged with local recipients across our firm who have assistance dogs, to learn more about paws4people and the impact the organization has had on their lives.”

AAFCPAs donates $31K to local charities
Massachusetts firm AAFCPAs donated $31k to local charities, selected by its staff members, as part of its "Giving Tuesday" program.
The firm provided a 1:1 match on staff member donations, almost doubling its 2017 Giving Tuesday fundraiser total of $17k. Charities were chosen by employees, with staff donating to 501c3 nonprofits. The firm also organized food, toy, and essentials drives for additional donations.
“Our employees appreciate the firm’s 10% Back to Nonprofits program, and our annual participation in Giving Tuesday when they can double their donations,” stated Dave McManus, AAFCPAs’ co-managing partner. “This program inspires employees to support causes they care about, and together we are working to bring more resources to the nonprofits that are changing our world.”

Marks Paneth's Parsippany, N.J. office participates in Salvation Army "Angel Tree" program
Top 100 firm Marks Paneth and its Parsippany, N.J. office helped give back to its local community by participating in the Salvation Army’s “Angel Tree” program.
The program matches donors with children from qualified families and provides a tag that symbolizes a child in the Salvation Army program. Each tag represents gift wishes and staff members are tasked with fulfilling the gifts, attaching a child's tag to each package.
“A few colleagues and I participated in the Angel Tree program when we were members of a predecessor firm that merged into Marks Paneth in 2015," said Monica Kaden, a director in the firm's New Jersey office. "After the merger, we immediately noticed the spirit of community here and the shared desire of our expanding office staff to support charitable causes because they wanted to – not because they had to. We hoped the program would be embraced, and sure enough, the number of participants – or angels – continues to grow year after year.”
