The accounting firms of Mengel, Metzger, Barr & Co. LLP and Kirby Beals Maier announced that they will merge in a deal effective immediately.
Financial terms were not disclosed, but the six employees of Kirby, Beals, Maier will move into the Elmira headquarters of Mengel, Metzger, Barr over the holiday weekend, bringing the total number of employees to 26.
"We are excited to join MMB and work with their experienced professionals to provide accounting, tax and consulting services to businesses and individuals," said partner Peter Maier, in a statement. "As part of MMB, we will continue to service a wide variety of industries, including manufacturing, distribution, construction/real estate, retailing, financial institutions, not-for-profit organizations, health care, automotive and professional services."
Mengel, Metzger, Barr & Co. was established in 1975 and also has offices in Rochester, Hornell and Ithaca. The firm will continue to operate under the MMB name and remain an independent member of the BDO Seidman Alliance, the world's sixth largest accounting and consulting firm.
