Former Grabush Accountants Join Gorfine Schiller

Gorfine, Schiller & Gardwyn has hired two former partners and about 20 former employees of Grabush Newman & Co. after they left Smart & Associates, which acquired Grabush several years ago.

"About five years ago, Smart acquired Grabush Newman, and the Grabush Newman people decided to take their practice back and join our firm," said Jim Schiller, co-founding partner at the Owings Mills, Md., firm.

Smart will continue to run a small consulting office in Towson with the remaining employees, but the attest work has effectively gone to Gorfine Schiller now.

"The two partners brought their practices into our firm and they became partners in our firm," said Schiller. "We're going to be probably over 75 people, and we should have revenues in excess of $10 million. It will give us much more capability to service our existing client base, as well as build an environment for our employees to grow in."
